Climate Challenges in Norway’s Arctic | RESIST
The region of Vesterålen in northern Norway offers striking scenery. Its rugged mountains and bountiful seas have shaped local communities over the centuries. But it also faces many climate challenges such as rising sea levels, rising temperatures and more frequent adverse weather events. These challenges pose a threat to local infrastructure and important industries like fishing and fish farming. In this first of three chapters, we hear about some of these challenges from a local perspective, to get a feel of what it is like to live in this Arctic region of Europe.
