RESIST Shines at London Climate Technology Show

RESIST coordinators Katarzyna Pydzinska Azevedo from INOVA+ and Vilija Balionyte-Merle from SINTEF

RESIST caught the attention of attendees and stakeholders at the 2nd London Climate Technology Show on 26-27 September. Although cozy in size, the RESIST stand was bursting with innovative climate solutions and ideas and helped to spark engaging conversations about how harnessing technology can have a positive impact on climate resilience throughout Europe.

Successful 2nd Consortium meeting of the RESIST Project in Turku, Finland

RESIST consortium meeting in Turku, Finland.

What could be more rewarding than meeting colleagues in person to foster teamwork? RESIST partners met in Turku, Finland, to strengthen collaboration and advance on the next steps of the project for the second half of 2023. During the meeting, the RESIST consortium also visited the nature-based stormwater management system in Turku, one of the RESIST leading regions. Our sister project Regions4Climate joined the meeting in Finland represented by Carmen Antuña Rozado from VTT. Stay tuned for our upcoming activities!

Integrated Landscape Management Area of Tábua, Portugal

CIM Região de Coimbra, in collaboration with ForestWISE, and Tábua Municipality have joined forces to prepare for the 2024 intervention in the Integrated Landscape Management Area of Tábua, stretching from the Ronqueira River Beach to the Rei dos Moinhos Dam. The action is part of the RESIST Project activities to promote landscape change, the recovery of forest waste and increased resilience to rural fires. If you own a property in the area, your role is pivotal for planning the interventions that will take place next year. Join RESIST and reach out to the Tábua town hall for more information.

What is the difference between climate change adaptation and resilience?

While adaptation focuses on surviving in new environments, resilience builds capacity to anticipate and bounce back from climate shocks. Adaptation can therefore be short- or long-term, incremental or transformative, a single action or a holistic programme, reactive and backward-looking or proactive and forward-looking. Resilience is more associated with a perspective and way of thinking that advocates system-wide changes. Adaptation and resilience are complementary! Together, they create a powerful response to climate change impacts. Explore the full explainer by Sara Mehryar published at the Grantham Research Institute of the London School of Economics (LSE).
